Praying for my mom, she has a mysterious lung condition. The doctors have run several tests, including a biopsy. Still no word on what is wrong.

Coldest Night of the Year

Jenn and I walking in a 5K to raise money for the “Refuge” in Oshawa, a charity in Oshawa that provides aid to street and homeless youth. We need to raise a cool $300 by February 25th. I know there’s a lot of great causes out there and you might not be able to do much, and that’s ok…every little bit helps. The organization sponsoring the walk is the “coldest night of the year”. coldestnightoftheyear.org. I am pretty sure they will give you a charitable receipt on donations made.

The Office last night…HILARIOUS episode. Wasn’t sure what to expect when Michael Scott left but they have done a great job of making the show move on without him.

The Loser is…

Jenn is having to get a tooth pulled, she has an infection and they tried to numb it and pull it yesterday, but the infection fought off the Novocaine and she has to wait until Tuesday to get it pulled…OUCH. Lots of Ibuprofen…

Torch Bearer in London

It was awesome to see that Jim Redmond got the call to carry the Olympic torch in London for the Summer Games. Are you wondering, “who in the world is Jim Redmond??” I was too, click here to read his story of fame. I remember as a teenager watching the 1992 Games and will NEVER forget the moment I saw Leonard jump from the stands and run to help his son finish his race. What a great story…read it here.

Words/Phrases I’d like to see banned in 2012

I read an article on words/phrases that are “no longer cool” to use and it inspired me to make my own list…here goes:

Justsayin. I can’t even begin to tell you much I HATE that expression, it’s bad to hear someone say it, but it’s a 100 times worse to see it in print. It’s all over facebook…twitter…it’s everywhere. I’d like to see it banned! When I read something and I catch a glimpse of “justsayin” I “juststopreadin”. It’s a persons way of saying “I just said something profound or ironic and you need to notice”, or it’s a free pass to say something offensive like “bro your kid is ugly”, sound hurtful?? Sure, but throw a “justsayin” on the end and all is well. You can even spice it up with a #!
Yes and no. this one has been around for a long time, and I have been known to use it, but seriously it’s gotta stop. Think about it, can it really be “yes and no”? ”Honey do you love me”, “does this dress make my butt look big”, “are we going to have sex tonight”…and in our home “yes and no” is an answer to all those questions. How can that be?
Vacay. It’s vacation, and if the extra syllable is too much you need a “vacay” to the “nuthouse”. If you aren’t rich don’t say “vacay”, I am somewhat embarrassed that it even needs to be mentioned.
Can we Talk (this entry is submitted by Gemma Sinclair…funny) Can we talk should be abolished unless it includes the details of what the conversation is going to be about. I can’t tell you the number of times a friend has emailed/text/called with “can we talk” or “I need to talk to you” and I start freaking out that I’ve done something wrong. Usually ended up being a self-centered conversation about the friend’s life or a gossip fest about something someone else did. Now if I have to talk to someone, even if I want it to be face-to-face, I at least hint what it’s about or indicate that it’s not about them or our relationship or something that may give that person an anxiety attack for the 24 hours leading up to the meeting.
Anywho. If you have never seen Tommy Boy you should never say “anywho”. I will argue as a HUGE Tommy Boy fan that it has been 15 years since that movie came out so we should stop using it altogether.
Good times. A common “this conversation has died and I don’t know what to say” space filler. If the conversation has died, and the moment is awkward…it ain’t “good times”. I’d rather you say nothing or say “I don’t know what to say”…

Anywho, that’s my list, I hope you like it…I am off to “vacay”, should be good times…#justsayin.
